How to make it

  • Mix oats and boiling water then allow to stand 20 minutes.
  • Cream together shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
  • Combine cooled oat mixture, flour, soda, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg together.
  • Combine with shortening mixture.
  • Pour into greased rectangular cake pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.
  • Boil oleo, brown sugar and milk for 7 minutes.
  • Stir in coconut and pecans and pour over warm cake.
