Boursin Cheese Recipe
This is so flavorful and creamy. Best served at room temperature. Good on begal crisps.

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 Stick butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Beau Monde seasoning
  • 1 Clove Garlic -- minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine herbs
  • or
  • pinch each of thyme, oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried or fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 teaspoon wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions
  1. Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy; add remaining ingredients. Chill in a container, letting it mellow 12 hours. Freezes well.

Isn't Boursin cheese a trademark name? I have a package in my refrigerator and it says Boursin is a French Gournay cheese. This may be good, but it isn't Boursin.

That is a good question. Or was it a statement? I will check the package of a commercial Boursin at the store. Is Boursin processed from cheese or is it a traditional cheese made from milk?

In any event, this appetizer has the appearance, texture and flavor of Boursin cheese. I guess that's how the name for it was established.
