I happened upon this and it brought back some old memories. We used to cook cake on top the stove. My wife and I demonstrated Miracle Maid cookware (long, long ago but not too far away). It was thick aluminum with what they called a "Gem-Coat Finish". (The first of the black finishes. They touted even heat distribution thru pan and cover.) To shorten the story, we would throw any cake mix together, pour into large MM frying pan and cover, and put it on a low burner on top the stove. This could be done at a camp site, as well. That's my point. How about those Vikings?
