  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 (10.75 oz.) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 or 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 2 or 3 carrots, cut up
  • 1 (16 oz.) package refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

Directions
  1. Place the chicken, butter, soup, onion, potatoes, and carrots in a slow cooker and fill with enough water to cover. (I have also started to use chicken broth instead of water here.)
  2. Cover and cook on high for 5 to 6 hours.
  3. About 45 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

Have done one like this except I used flaky biscuits a took the layers apart and used them as dumplings.

I made a similar recipe on top stove in a large pot and it was yummy. The Pillsbury refrigerator biscuits make good dumplings.

I'm going to try it in my slow cooker this week (sans potatoes and plus celery) and Ill let y'all know how it turns out.

Note To Angelgirl1963 .. FYI: a slow cooker and a crock pot is the same thing. Slow Cooker is the new name for Crock Pot.

I made this-it turned out great. Is delicious even without the dumplings-may omit them and add some elbow pasta the last 30 minutes instead. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!


I made this, and it was amazing. My favorite find so far. It's very easy to throw together and very tasty. I used potatoes, and also dumplings, but instead of the pre-made tubes full of biscuits (which have trans fat in them), I used a whole grain biscuit mix instead.

Alterations


Leave out the potatoes and add diced celery.


Use chicken broth instead of water. Add 1 can corn, 1 can peas and 1 can green beans


you can find already cut square dumplings at the frozen section of your grocery store
