Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine potatoes, celery, onion, water, seasonings, and bullion in a 2 qt. saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil and cook covered for 13 to 16 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  • Combine 1/4 cup milk with flour until smooth.
  • Add flour mixture, remaining milk, and butter to potatoe mixture.
  • Cook over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly.
  • If i have left over ham I will add it to soup.

    Since I was a kid, I have absolutely loved cream of potato soup. I made this and it tastes like my great grandma made it. Thank you for posting this recipe.

    Loved it, as usual I altered it to taste due to having 4 kids LOL
    I added chopped Kale and shredded Bacon, made some great touches !

    this is a pretty good soup, but I've found that if I saute some veggies (carrots, celery, onion) in a little olive oil and add to the potatoes, and make a roux with a little butter and flour and cook out that raw taste, then add the milk or better yet, half and half, then when it thickens add that to the soup, it is even richer. If calories and cholesterol aren't an issue, add about 1/2 stick of real butter and you will think you've died and gone to heaven. I tried it and it's the best and pretty easy too!
