Granny Smith Cake Goes Nuts With Hot Topping Recipe

Ingredients

3 eggs

1-1/2 cups vegetable oil

2 cups sugar

3 cups plain flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

3 cups GRANNY SMITH apples, peeled and diced

1 cup chopped walnuts

TOPPING

1 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup milk

1 stick unsalted butter

Directions

In large mixer bowl, beat eggs vegetable oil and sugar well

In another bowl, sift flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon together

Add to creamed mixture, mix well on low speed

Add vanilla, apples, walnuts

Pour into greased 9 inch tube pan (I prefer tube pan with this)

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour

Remove from oven and pour HOT topping over HOT cake

TOPPING:

Combine all ingredients in saucepan and cook for about 3 minutes, until mixture begins to boil, then pour over hot cake

LET CAKE COMPLETELY COOL BEFORE REMOVING FROM PAN
