Gravy Baked Pork Chops Recipe

Gravy Baked Pork Chops Recipe
This is comfort food for us. The soup mixture that the chops cook in makes wonderful gravy over mashed poatoes. This recipe cuts down on some of the calories especially if use low fat soup and skim milk

Ingredients
  • 4 (1 1/4 inch thick) pork chops
  • 2 to 4 oz. fresh mushrooms or can of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 ts minced garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ts oil of choice (I use EVOO)
  • 1 Tbls EVOO or butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. If using fresh mushrooms, slice them and place them in skillet with a teaspoon of oil on med heat and saute for 5 minutes or so.
  3. I also add a teaspoon of minced garlic to the cooking mushrooms in the last 3 minutes of cooking mushrooms but you can just add it to the soup mixture.
  4. Season pork chops with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  6. Saute the pork chops in the butter for about 5 minutes per side.
  7. In a separate medium bowl, combine the milk, water and soup mushrooms and garlic.
  8. Place the pork chops in a 9X113 inch baking dish and pour the soup mixture over the chops.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes
  10. enjoy
