How to make it

  • We peel and wash potatoes. We cut into slices about 1 cm., thick and then into sticks. We place in a bowl with cold water so that they do not get black.
  • We heat the oil (which should be enough to cover the potatoes). We drain in a strainer and add a little salt. We know that oil is ready if we place our hand above frying pan and feel the heat. Until we know this by experience try this: after 2 – 3 minutes we put the first piece of potato in the hot oil and if floats and starts sizzling, your oil is ready and put potatoes gradually so long that they are covered by the oil. Don’t stir before 5 minutes have passed and then stir occasionally until the desired colour. If you use a deep fryer the same as above applies but then follow the instructions of your fryer as to how long to fry.
  • Serve hot sprinkling some oregano and extra salt on top.

Love the idea of the oregano. I'll have to fix them this way very soon. I love a little garlic and parsley on my fries, this will be a great variation. Thanks for the post.

This is the way my Mother always made french fries for us when we were young but without the oregano. I think it is a great addition!!!
Thank you for sharing with all of us ;-)
