Chocolate egg creams aka chocolate egg cream soda (not pop for those in the midwest) is a bubbly chocolate delicacy brought to upstate NY from NYC. We brought this to a mom and pop soda shop in the small town I pretty much grew up in when we moved from Manhattan. Read more To die for. Not a normal chocolate soda folks! Quick, easy to make and disappears as fast. It was so popular we always got it for free from Mr. and Mrs. Gilmartin (God rest their souls), the owners. After coming home from forays out and about for my jobs, it was a welcome memory in a mouthful. And when I got homesick for friends I would make it on the road (if I could find the ingredients) I guarantee you will love it. See less
Ingredients
- 2 - 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup or more if you like chocolate (Hersheys, Fox's Ubet or any good chocolate syrup you prefer) shopping list
- 1/3 cup milk shopping list
- 2/3 cup cold seltzer shopping list
- 1 coca cola soda glass for service (that's how I remember always having it) shopping list
How to make it
- Pour chocolate syrup into 12-ounce glass.
- Add milk and stir until the chocolate is completely mixed with the milk..
- Slowly add seltzer (not soda water), stirring quickly to create a foamy head.
- Serve immediately.
- Get ready to make a second one....
- Variations are using strawberry, vanilla, amaretto or any syrup you prefer. Also, the diet chocolate syrups are ok but you lose a bit of the mouthfeel with them.
