How to make it

  • Prepare cake mix as directed on box. bake half the batter in a 9 x 13 pan for 20 minutes.
  • melt caramels, margarine and milk, stirring until smooth.
  • put on baked cake.
  • top with chips and pecans.
  • dot with remaining batter.
  • reduce oven to 250 degrees and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Increase the temperature to 350 and bake 10 - 15 minutes more
  • garnish with cool whip
