Bread Machine Amish Bread Recipe
I got this at allrecipes.com, but I don't make it exactly as the recipe lists, so this reflects my changes. This is the recipe I use most often for bread.

Ingredients
  • 2-3/4 cups bread flour (I use all-purpose flour)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 18 Tbs warm water

Directions
  1. Put all ingredients into bread machine in order listed by manufacturer.
  2. Select White bread cycle. Makes one 1.5 lb. loaf.

I'm such a "basics" gal -- I haven't even gotten a bread machine. I'm sure this would come out great the old, conventional method of kneading and letting rise.


Thanks, this is one for the book. ES,I just let the machine do the mixing.Saves on the hands. Rise and bake in my pans.

Uh... I'm sorry, but when was it exactly that the Amish started using bread machines? I'm sure it tastes great, but don't call it Amish Bread. IT CERTAINLY IS NOT!!! Just a simple bread machine recipe, nothing more.
