How to make it

  • In saucepan, heat milk, Crisco, and sugar until warm
  • In a large mixer bowl whisk 1-1/2 cups flour, salt, and yeast
  • With mixer, blend both mixtures
  • Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes
  • Gradually add 1/2 cup flour and eggs on high for 2 minutes
  • Mix in remaining 2 cups flour (batter will be thick)
  • Cover bowl, let rise until double in bulk (about an hour)
  • Punch dough down with wooden spoon
  • With mixer, beat on low speed again for a few seconds
  • Place into a greased and floured bundt or tube pan
  • Cover, let rise until dough increases 1/3 in bulk
  • Bake 40 minutes (or a little longer) at 350 degrees
  • When done, loosen sides and center with knife, and turn onto a plate just like a cake.
  • Cut into slices and serve warm with lots of butter :)
