The photo has nori wrapped around the base but it's not mentioned in the recipe. Do you add the nori before frying? Is it only a strip around the edges or does it cover the bottom as well?

This was the closest photo I could find, it does wrap around the bottom, and considering the fact that nori is already toasted you don't need to fry it. But you can if you want. Give it a try and see how you like it!

Wow! I never met anyone in the states here who liked onigiri. I've been making them by hand for years, and usually stuff them with umeboshi or salmon/mayo. But I can't wait to try it this way. I usually like to wrap the whole think with the nori. Arigato!
