Peach Streusel Bars

- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter shopping list
- 1 12-ounce jar peach preserves shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Grease 9- by 9- by 2-inch square pan.
- Combine flour, sugar, lemon rind, nutmeg and salt in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Reserve 1 cup. Pat remaining mixture evenly into prepared pan.
- Spread preserves evenly over dough, leaving 1/4-inch border around edge. Sprinkle with reserved flour mixture.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool in PAN on wire rack.
- Cut into bite-sized bars. Store for up to 1 week in air-tight container.
- I refrigerate mine so they don't mold and take them out to warm up before eating.
- Makes 16 bars.
