Ambrosia Fruit Salad Recipe

Ingredients

Fruit:

2 large cans fruit cocktail

1 medium can mandarin oranges

1 can pitted dark red cherries (not pie filling)

1 large can pineapple tidbits

1 apple, chopped and squeezed with lemon to prevent from turning colour

1 cup green grapes, halved

1/4 cup desiccated coconut

1-1/2 cups coloured marshmallows

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Dressing:

1 8 ounce block cream cheese at room temperature

3/4 cup sour cream

1 small jar marshmallow cream

1 Tablespoon orange or pineapple juice

Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg approximately 1/4 tsp.

Directions

Drain all fruit, and rinse cherries.

Combine all fruit and other ingredients in a large bowl.

Mix ONLY the dressing ingredients together with a mixer or hand whisk.

Add to the fruit and gently fold with a wooden spoon.

Refrigerate for at least 5 hours.

Note: Bananas do NOT work well in this fruit salad.

You can always substitute other fresh fruit of your choice ie. watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew etc.
