Ingredients

How to make it

  • In shallow bowl beat together eggs, orange juice concentrate, milk, pecans, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Dip bread into egg mixture coating both sides.
  • Soak for 30 seconds on each side.
  • In a skillet melt 1 tablespoon butter and cook the bread on both sides over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side.
  • Serve with butter.

    I have made this a number of times now and it is wonderful. Defiantly go with the pecans (unless you can't do nuts). I useually omit the nutmeg though.

    TIP: instead of putting in the pecans and cinnamon all at once sprinkle them on each batch of bread as you go, otherwise they get stuck to the first batch and you get none later. Goes especially if you are multiplying the recipe as I usually do.

    Leftovers can be frozen and reheated in a microwave or toaster oven.

    I'm so glad you go to these estate sales and get these recipes. Are these handwritten recipes or are they from old cookbooks. Whatever they are, you have a great collection of them! Thanks for posting this recipe!

    Grandson and I are arguing on this... he wants it without the pecans... I say pecans or no french toast! I think I won! Great recipe! Love it!
    Add a little side of sausage.. Great supper!
