Southern US Frogmore Stew Recipe
Comfort food, southern style! A kettle full of spicy goodness from the bayou and the farm -- sausage, shrimp, corn, potatoes -- simple to make but complex in flavor. You'll make it again and again!

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. small red potatoes, unpeeled
  • 2 lbs. smoked hot sausage links or another smoked sausage such as kielbasa
  • 4 lbs. large, unpeeled raw shrimp, deveined
  • 12 ears fresh corn, husks and silk removed.
  • 3/4 cup Old Bay Seasoning TM
  • 6 qts, water

Directions
  1. In a large stockpot, stir Old Bay Seasoning into water, heat to boiling. Add potatoes, boil gently for 15 minutes.
  2. Cut sausage* in 2-inch pieces and add to pot, cook 5 minutes.
  3. Cut ears of corn in quarters and add; cook 5 minutes longer.
  4. Add shrimp and stir. Cook until shrimp are pink, about 5 minutes. Drain and serve piping hot! Enjoy!
  5. * If you don't find hot sausage links and use another type, add crushed red pepper to the pot.

Ah, this brings back memories. I lived in Frogmore for several years. A beautiful area with an interesting history. And oh my, such wonderful shrimp! I could walk out to in my back yard and catch shrimp and crab for dinner.

cajun seasoning instead of old bay and andouille sausage instead of kielbasa, maybe a few oysters and some crawfish....
