Ingredients

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

2 cups oatmeal

1 cup coconut

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp salt

Directions

Mix first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil until it bubbles, then remove from heat. Mix in the remaining ingredients.

Press into an 8"x8" pan and cool until firm. Cut into bars approx. 1"x1" pieces.

Heat 8 oz. of chocolate chips. Dip bars into chocolate and cool. The original recipe as written by my mother included 1/2 bar of paraffin wax with the chocolate chips - I make it without the paraffin - I think the only change is the firmness of the chocolate.
