This is more a presentation than a recipe. Was served to me this way at the French Lick Resort. First time I've seen this arrangement.

Ingredients
  • 1 head Romaine Lettuce
  • Croutons
  • Caesar Salad Dressing (bottled or roll your own)

Directions
  1. Cut the bottom stem part from a head of Romaine lettuce.
  2. Clean the leaves carefully and assemble a package of four leaves that fit together to form a log. [See picture]
  3. Place a small grouping of croutons against the side of the lettuce.
  4. Drizzle the whole package with Caesar dressing.

One of our favorite restaurants will stand their romaine leaves straight up in a toasted bread cube. You pick out a leaf from what looks like a bread vase and eat it with your fingers. It is fun, too. This looks just as wonderful.


Wow, never thought of that. We'll have to try it!
