Crockpot Pea Soup Recipe
I love the smell of this soup cooking all day in my kitchen

Ingredients
  • 2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
  • 1-1/2 cups dry split peas, sorted
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery with leaves
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 4 cups veggie broth ( or you can use chicken)
  • 2 cups water

Directions
  1. In 4-6 quart crockpot, combine all ingredients.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  3. Just before serving use a potato masher to mash some of the peas in the soup for a thicker consistency.

This is like my old stand-by. I use a hand held blender to mash some of the ingredients, just to thicken.Great post...


I am making this already - you beat me I was going to post my recipe after it was done. Pretty much the same- only I use Canadian bacon and slice it into chunks and a lot of garlic It's another stable in our home. AWESOME post!!

I would like to try this but have a question. Do you soak your peas overnight before? I do that when I make it on the stove but this is the first time I am going to try the crockpot.
