Old Fashion Butter Cookies Recipe
this is a recipe that is from my late Mother-in-laws collection.. These are a basic cookie that are great for anytime. the dough can be frozen.. you can serve them plain or decorate..

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 TBSP. milk
  • 1/2 teasp. vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teasp. baking powder
  • 1/2 teasp. salt

Directions
  1. cream together using electric mixer set on cream setting (low)
  2. butter and sugar
  3. stir in on cookie setting (medium)
  4. egg, milk, and vanilla
  5. mix together the flour, baking powder and salt
  6. add slowly to the butter mixture. mix well
  7. chill: 4 hours even better if you freeze the dough for a couple of days
  8. divide dough into 1/3's first.
  9. flour surface and roll out dough to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.. keep the other 2 doughs in the refrigerator
  10. cut into circles. place on an ungreased cookie sheet
  11. bake at 375 to 400' F for 5 - 8 mins. or until very lightly brown
