Meatballs Italiano Recipe

Meatballs Italiano Recipe
These meatballs are best served with spaghetti marinara or on a sub sandwich. Once you try this recipe, you won't want any other meatball!

Ingredients
  • 1 lb spicy Italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 yellow onion, grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 TBSP fennel seed (crush or grind a little if you can)
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp ground rosemary
  • salt and pepper

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Remove sausage from it's casing if present, and add to large mixing bowl.
  3. If the sausage is already seasoned with fennel/rosemary...you may want to go easy on the added seasoning.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and thoroughly combine everything together with your hands or kitchen-aid.
  5. Roll meat mixture by the handful into big round meatballs, I like them to be large. Larger than a golf ball but not as large as a pool ball.
  6. You should be able to roll up about 10-15 large ones.
  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and put them in the oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and add to your pot of marinara sauce and simmer for another 15 minutes.
  9. THESE ARE MEATBALLS!!!!

Love anything Italian....Will have to give these a try...

Sounds like a winner to me :)

Got rid of the fennel and rosmary. Added 1 pkg. liptons dry onion soup mix. Used Italian seasoned bread crumbs. Sorry, but better than yours! Also needs 1 egg.

What? Soup mix? Fresh onions, only. that's italian. and your store bought seasoned bread crumbs vs. my plain bread crumbs with fresh herbs added???? Your high.
ARE YOU READY FOR A THROWDOWN????? :) Bring it!

My meatballs have only Italian seasoning in them. Yours sound much better. I'm printing it! Thanks for the great post.

feel free to play with herbs to suite your own taste. I feel that nothing else is really necessary except fennel and some ground rosemary. My marinara suace has enough herbs in so I tend to leave the meatballs alone.

I liked these meatballs, but next time I will cut the Fennel in half.
