Ingredients

How to make it

  • Add oil to large pan and heat.
  • Mix the milk and eggs together.
  • Mix flour with salt, pepper, garlic powder, dash of white pepper-mix well.
  • Salt and pepper each side of your meat, dip first into flour mixture then into egg and milk mixture, and once again into flour mixture-place in hot oil-cook until brown on both sides and juices are clear when pierced with fork .
  • Repeat process for all your meat.
  • Gravy:
  • Drain off excess grease in pan except for about 3 tablespoons.
  • Place your flour in grease, mix the flour and grease together to form a roux.* (roux is very important for a smooth gravy) keep stirring your roux for about 2 minutes-be careful not to burn.
  • Carefully pour your milk into the roux and keep stirring constantly. Stir until gravy reaches desired thickness.
  • Check seasoning at this point, add more salt and pepper and a couple dashes of white pepper.

Very tasty and the gravy was nice and thick! I wanted to relax a little while cooking, so I added about a cup of water to the pan and let it simmer a little while I finished other things. Then, just went ahead and made the gravy as listed. Awesome!

This sounds just like the recipe I ate growing up. I live in PA now but grew up and was raised in the deep south. I can't wait to make this for my spouse so she knows what she's been missing out on. Yum! :)
