Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy

- 1 pound pork steak or cube steak shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- salt (to taste) shopping list
- pepper (to taste) shopping list
- paprika (to taste) shopping list
- garlic powder (to taste) shopping list
- dash of white pepper shopping list
- 2 eggs lightly beaten shopping list
- 1/4 cup milk shopping list
- oil for pan about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch shopping list
- Gravy: shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup flour shopping list
- dash of white pepper shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Add oil to large pan and heat.
- Mix the milk and eggs together.
- Mix flour with salt, pepper, garlic powder, dash of white pepper-mix well.
- Salt and pepper each side of your meat, dip first into flour mixture then into egg and milk mixture, and once again into flour mixture-place in hot oil-cook until brown on both sides and juices are clear when pierced with fork .
- Repeat process for all your meat.
- Gravy:
- Drain off excess grease in pan except for about 3 tablespoons.
- Place your flour in grease, mix the flour and grease together to form a roux.* (roux is very important for a smooth gravy) keep stirring your roux for about 2 minutes-be careful not to burn.
- Carefully pour your milk into the roux and keep stirring constantly. Stir until gravy reaches desired thickness.
- Check seasoning at this point, add more salt and pepper and a couple dashes of white pepper.

This sounds just like the recipe I ate growing up. I live in PA now but grew up and was raised in the deep south. I can't wait to make this for my spouse so she knows what she's been missing out on. Yum! :)
