How to make it

  • Saute onion, garlic, and lamb or beef in oil in a 2-quart saucepan 8-10 minutes. add salt, pepper, oregano tomatoes and tomato sauce. cover and simmer 30 minutes.
  • preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • cook macaroni according to package directions, rinse in cold water and drain.
  • melt better in a saucepan blend in flour, slowly add 1 3/4 cups milk and heat, stirring constantly until very thick. blend in salt and pepper.
  • off heat, measure 1 1/4 cups sauce into a bowl, beat in remaining 1/2 cup milk and set aside.
  • mix 1/2 cup of the bread crumbs into the meat mixture. sprinkle remaining crumbs over the bottom of a greased 2 1/2 quart casserole.
  • layer in half the macaroni, spread it with all the meat sauce, half the thin cream sauce and half the cheese. top with remaining macaroni and thin cream sauce.
  • spread thick cream sauce over all, along with remaing cheese. bake, uncovered, 30 minutes, reduce heat to 325 and bake 10 minutes longer.
  • enjoy!
