OLD FASHIONED APPLE BUTTER

tHE WHOLE FAMILY LOVES FRESH APPLE BUTTER ON TOAST BISCUITS AND JUST PLAIN BREAD. MAKES A GREAT PRESENT WITH A LOAF OF HOMEMADE BREAD WRAPPED IN A KITCHEN TOWEL & BASKET
Ingredients
- 5 LB granny smith apples OR tart apples shopping list
- 3 CUPS apple cider shopping list
- 4 CUPS sugar shopping list
- 3 t. cinnamon shopping list
- 1 t. cloves shopping list
How to make it
- PEEL, QUARTER AND REMOVE THE CORE OF THE APPLE. USING A HEAVY SAUCEPAN, BRING APPLES AND CIDER TO A BOIL. USING A HEAVY PAN IS VERY IMPORTANT TO AIOD SCORCHING. REDUCE HEAT TO MEDIUM ANDF SIMMER, COVERED FOR 20 - 25 MINUTES. PUREE APPLE MIXTURE IN A BLENDER. GRANDMA USED A COLANDER. ADD SUGAR AND SPICES, BLENDING WELL. POUR PUREE INTO A SHALLOW BAKING DISH AND BAKE AT 300 DEGREES FOR 2 HOURS, OR UNITL THICK ENOUGH TO HOLD ITS SHAPE. POUR INTO STERILE JARS AND SEAL.

Apple Butter is GREAT. My 90 year old Aunt makes it, or used to since she can't reach the counter tops anymore. Danny just loved it so I now have to learn how to make. Great post!!!!!!!!
