I kept trying different spritz cookie recipes until I found this one. I stopped looking because my sister said this is the one.

Ingredients
  • 2 1/3 all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup 10XX sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • optional decorations: food coloring, melted chocolate, sprinkles, chopped nuts

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees with rack in center of oven.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together flour and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter at medium speed until creamy (about 1 minutes). Gradually add sugar and combine well.
  4. Add egg and vanilla; mix until well blended.
  5. At low speed add flour-salt mixture just until combined.
  6. Refrigerate batter for 1 hour.
  7. Pipe batter onto cookie sheets and bake 6-8 minutes; until lightly browned around edges.
  8. Cool and decorate.
  9. Makes about 5 dozen.
