Cinnamon French Toast

- French Toast: shopping list
- 4 slices French pre-sliced bread shopping list
- butter (enough to cover griddle or bottom of pan) shopping list
- 1 cup milk (you can also use cream or buttermilk shopping list
- 1 extra large egg shopping list
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla shopping list
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon shopping list
- powdered sugar shopping list
- cinnamon Butter: shopping list
- 1 lb tub margarine shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar or powdered sugar shopping list
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon or to taste shopping list
- Combine the three ingredients and mix thoroughly with a spoon. shopping list
- This will keep well in fridge. shopping list
- Syrup: shopping list
- 3/4 cup Aunt Jemima's syrup shopping list
- 1 tsp Savannah cinnamon (sold at Hallmark stores and fine gift shops) or any other liquid cinnamon syrup shopping list
- Heat through till very hot in microwave. shopping list
How to make it
- Beat milk, egg, vanilla and cinnamon with whisk. Heat butter at medium heat till it bubbles. Dip bread in batter and place on hot butter. Cook till browned on both sides, turning every minute.
- Spread a generous amount of cinnamon butter on toasted bread. Pour syrup over both slices. Top with fresh fruit garnish and then powdered sugar.
- Optional Topping: 1 can apple pie filling, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 tablespoon sugar. Combine and cook through on stove. This can be frozen and is good on biscuits, toast or muffins.
- Serve with bacon and sausage.
- Note: The cinnamon butter is great spread on split, leftover biscuits. Place under over broiler till butter begins to bubble.
