Ingredients

1 medium red onion chopped

1 medium bell pepper chopped

8 o.z extra lean ground beef

4 cloves garlic, crushed

1-1/2 Tbsp. chili powder

2 tsp. ground cumin

2 tsp. cayenne pepper or to taste

1 tsp. sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. dried oregano, crushed

1 (19-oz.) can dark red kidney beans, drained

1 (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained

1 (14-oz.) can beef broth

1 (12-oz.) bottle beer any brand

1 Tbsp. yellow cornmeal

1 Tbsp. lime juice

Directions

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Cook 5 minutes until beef is browned, stirring to crumble.

Stir in chili powder, cumin, cayenne, sugar and salt, cook 1 minute.

Add oregano and next 4 ingredients (through beer) to pan, bring to boil.

Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.

Stir in cornmeal, cook 5 minutes.

Stir in lime juice.
