How to make it

  • sift the dry ingredients and cut in shortening.
  • Whip together egg, water, and vinegar
  • Stir into the flour mixture
  • Divide the dough into four portions and roll into four 9x13 rectangles
  • Line two 9x13 pans with two of the dough rectangles.
  • Make the filling starting with the 3 cups of sugar.
  • divide the filling mixture among the two pans spreading to the corners and cover with the remaining dough rectangles
  • Spread some heaving whipping cream over the top of the dough and sprinkle with some white sugar
  • Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees, cool and cut into bars
