Jetts Cinnamon Chewy Bars

This will become your favorite new chewy bar. Cinnamon, oatmeal & nuts baked together into a cookie/bar that gets rave reviews from my co-workers.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
- 1 1/2 Cups quick Quaker oats shopping list
- 2 packages instant Quaker oatmeal with maple/brown sugar shopping list
- 3/4 Cup chopped nuts shopping list
- 1 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons shortening shopping list
- 2 1/4 Cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 3 Tablespoons white corn syrup shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening. Add eggs, sugar and corn syrup. Add the other dry ingredients and mix until blended. Spray a 9X13 square cake pan (with sides)with a nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes. Oven temperatures vary. These chewy bars rise up in the pan and fall. When cool, cut into bars. Yummy, chewy goodness!
