How to make it

  • Mix together turmeric and salt in a small bowl.
  • Spoon the tureric and salt mixture over the fish pieces
  • Heat the oil in skillet. Add the fish to the skillet and fry until pale golden yellow. Remove the fish with a solotted spoon and set aside.
  • Place he green chillies, ginger, onion, garlic, tomatoes and mustard oil with a pestle to form a paste. Alternatively, grind the ingredients in a food processor.
  • Transfer the spicy paste to a saucepan and dry fry util goleden brown.
  • Remove the pean from the heat, add th water, and cook the fish, uncovered, over a médium heat for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • Serve inmediataly, garnished with chopped cilantro.

    thanks for this awesome post Berry! i will post an indian pickle recipe soon...it calls for mustard oil too, which is at an indian grocery here in town.

    If you can’t get mustard oil, just substitute it for your cooking oil.
