When I was young ,my mom made alot of of things out of leftover mashed potatoes.Fish patties, dinner rolls, potato pancakes, cake, and you guess it Donuts. LUV them all.
She never wrote recipes down. Us kids now grown have to try to guess at the long ago recipes.

Your recipe seems close to what I can remember. Will have to make the mashed potatoes like she used to make with can milk and butter.Dont know why my mom and women at that time had so much leftover mashed potatoes-unless they thought it a fast step for a second recipe.
    THANKS for sharing.

for as far back as i can remember until the owner passed about 10 years ago there was a German bakery that we visited every time we went to the coast. the owner was a sweet German man that made out of the world pastry, but he was famous for his potato donuts. i haven't had one for 10 years.

when I was growing up way back in the dark ages there was a chain of donut shops called Spudnuts that made their donuts out of potatoes. I wonder if this would be close to the taste of them because there has NEVER been a better donut made than Spudnuts thanks for the post.
