How to make it

  • In a bowl, combine potatoes, sugar, egg, sour cream and vanilla.
  • Combine dry ingredients, stir into potato mixture.
  • Heat oil in a deep fat fryer to 375 degrees.
  • Drop dough by teaspoonsful 5 or 6 at a time, into hot oil.
  • Fry for about one minute per side until deeply golden brown.
  • Drain very well on double thickness paper towels.
  • Roll in powdered sugar and serve immediately.
  • Alternately drizzle with honey and cinnamon.
  • Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
