What to buy: Cachaça, a 500-year-old, sugarcane-derived spirit, can be found at most well-stocked liquor stores.

Use a well-balanced, affordable Cabernet Sauvignon that will not overwhelm the other flavors in this cocktail.

4 blackberries

2 medium limes, quartered

3 parts cachaça

1 part Cabernet Sauvignon

Juice of 3 limes

Juice of 1/2 medium orange

2 parts Simple Syrup

1 part cranberry juice

Ice

Lime and orange wheels for garnish

Directions

Combine blackberries and quartered limes in a large pitcher and muddle until well crushed.

Add cachaça, Cabernet, lime juice, orange juice, Simple Syrup, cranberry juice, and some ice; stir to combine.

Garnish with lime and orange wheels and serve.
