Grilled Gouda Ham And Dill Pickle Sandwich On Pumpernickel Recipe

Try to say the title of this recipe ten times fast. The combination of cheese and dill pickles might be a strictly Scandinavian thing - I don't know, but this is one of my favorite ways to make a grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients
- 2 slices pumpernickel bread
- aged gouda cheese, sliced thin (enough for one sandwich)
- ½ of a dill pickle, sliced thin, blotted dry with a paper towel
- 1 thin slice smoked ham
- about 1 tbsp butter (more or less to your liking)
Directions
- Top one slice of bread with one layer of gouda, a layer of pickle slices and ham.
- Top ham with another layer of cheese and cover with a piece of bread.
- Melt butter over medium heat in a frying pan.
- Cook, turning once, until cheese is melted and each side is crisp, about 3 minutes per side.
