Ingredients

How to make it

  • Grease a large roasting pan with butter
  • Arrange the potatoes in rows, layering
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper
  • Dot with butter over entire surface
  • Meanwhile, in pan on stove, bring the cream just to a boil
  • Stir in the cheese, cook over high heat, constantly stirring until cheese melts
  • Season with a little salt and pepper
  • Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes
  • Cover the potatoes tightly with aluminum foil
  • Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Meanwhile in bowl, place seasoned bread crumbs with 3 tablespoons melted butter, toss to coat and have ready
  • Remove potatoes from oven, removing foil *carefully*
  • Sprinkle buttered breadcrumbs over entire surface of the potatoes
  • Set the pan under broiler until the top is golden brown
  • Let stand for about 10 minutes
  • Can cut into even sized squares when ready to serve
