Ingredients
  • 3-1/2 cups flour
  • 1-1/4 cups water 120 degrees
  • 3/4 of quick rising yeast package
  • 1 onion minced
  • 3-4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3-4 tablespoons FRESH minced cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons fresh dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons lavender
  • 1-2 teaspoons of fresh dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2-1/2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions
  1. The long cooking time is how long my bread setting takes including the rising periods - so yours maybe slightly less or more depending...
  2. My machine asks for the yeast last and liquids first...so follow your instructions of your bread machine...If your's asks for it last, then add yeast, then flour then the liquids and salt.
  3. My machine also says to add liquids with salt so that salt stays away from yeast before it's ready to mix.
  4. ***Ok here we go...
  5. Add salt, water, honey and olive oil first to bread pan.
  6. Measure flour out in separate bowl,
  7. Cut up onions and garlic mincing both and add to flour in bowl.
  8. Then add all herbs and pepper. My cilantro was fresh which is important, but my thyme and rosemary were freshly dried (from packages of fresh herbs that were left over and I had allowed to dry in bowls on top of the fridge for a few days)
  9. Stir flour with herbs, pepper, onion and garlic till all is mixed well.
  10. Add to bread pan and create a small well for adding yeast,
  11. Add yeast and place bread pan into machine.
  12. Select normal setting - but do check on loaf after first five minutes to make sure enough water has created a ball of dough - if you need to add a couple of tablespoons of water, do so now at this point. (I was a bit careless with measuring the flour exactly so I had to add a little water)
  13. Let bread machine do its thing - and share one heck of a loaf of bread!

This is going to taste a little like the onion kulcha bread recipe I posted last week - yet in a loaf.

I could convert this to a conventional baking method, I will give it a try and let you know how it comes out.

Sounds tasty

Michael

I don't have a bread machine, but I think I can figure out how to make it. It looks really good.

Well, this bread is calling to me and I will be making this tomorrow. It fits a menu I'm putting together. Great post - thanks so much! I'll let you know how it turned out. Delish!

This is on my menu for the weekend...sounds wonderful. I LOVE cilantro and have cooked with lavender but never the two, together. Thanks!
