Amish Apple Cake With Caramel Sauce

- 1/2 cup chopped pecans; shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 2-1/2 cups finely chopped apples, such as Granny Smith shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 tsp. each baking soda, cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. each nutmeg, vanilla shopping list
- 1 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- Hot caramel sauce shopping list
- 1/2 cup each butter or margarine, evaporated milk shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350ยบ F
- In a large bowl, cream butter. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and beat until well blended. Mix in vanilla, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add flour and stir just until blended. Stir in apples and nuts. Pour into an oiled 9" round cake pan.
- Bake for 30 mins or until top springs back when touched lightly with your finger. Serve with Hot Caramel Sauce.
- Sauce:
- In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar and salt. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla and milk. Serve warm sauce over cake.
