Ingredients

How to make it

  • Mix together in saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat for an hour to reduce liquid, stirring occasionally.
  • Let cool. It will thicken as it cools.
  • Can be stored in fridge for several weeks.
  • ....................................................................................................................................
  • Having never made this before I didn't want to use that many ingredients for experiment sake so I cut the recipe down. I used:
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup + 2 tbls sugar
  • 2 tbls butter
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla
  • I got the equivalent of 1 can of Eagle Brand this way.
  • Make sure you keep that low, rolling boil going steady for an hour or a bit more. It's essential in thickening. Just make sure your pot is big enough so you don't have a boil over!
  • This is definitely a keeper and a recipe I will continue to use!

Michelle - this is awesome! I very rarely have EB on hand and usually only buy it if I'm making the frosting or a recipe calls for it. What a great idea! Thank you so much! Definitely got my 5!

I love condensed milk..and Paula Deen! lol I put a little bit of condensed milk in my mashed potatoes...hubby and I love it! (But my 16 year old daughter hates it..so I leave out a small amount of regular potatoes for her). The sweetness makes the potatoes extra yummy to me! :)
