How to make it

  • quickly plunge the basil leaves in boiling water and then shock
  • in ice water. Dry off any excess water with paper towel
  • combine the basil, olive oil and canola oil in a saucepan and warm
  • gently for 8 to 10 minutes
  • place in a food processor; process 30 seconds
  • pour into a very clean jar, cool
  • cover and let steap in the refrigerator for 24 to 48 hours
  • line a funnel with a paper coffee filter and soak with the teaspoon
  • of canola oil
  • pour oil into funnel to drip into another very clean jar (takes time)
  • cover or cork tightly, label and date. Store in refrigerator.
  • remove a little for a squeeze bottle, squeese and brush on.

    Seems like this would be good on a Italian sub... Light but full of flavor.. Great idea. My basil well be ready soon and I will try this.
