Ingredients

How to make it

  • Wash daal and put in a large pan. Add water, turmeric, red chilli powder, green chillies and salt. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 30 minutes untill the daal is fully cooked and to the desired consistency preferably a thick soup like consistency. Turn the heat to very low.
  • Heat oil in a pan, when hot add red pepper whole, fry for almost 1 minute, add cumin seeds, coriander seeds and garlic paste (be careful it will splatter). Fry until garlic is light brown, add to the daal. Mix lightly and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with butter and cilantro. Enjoy.
