CREAMY POTATO GRATIN

- 2 LB. potatoes, THINLY SLICED shopping list
- salt AND pepper shopping list
- 1 TEASPOON GRATED nutmeg shopping list
- 1 clove OF garlic, CRUSHED shopping list
- 1/4 PINT OF single cream shopping list
- 4 FLUID OZS. milk shopping list
- 3 OZ. OF GRUERE cheese, GRATED. shopping list
How to make it
- PREHEAT OVEN
- COOK POTATOES IN BOILING WATER WITH SALT FOR 5 MINUTES, THEN DRAIN WELL.
- ARRANGE POTATOES IN LAYERS IN A GREASED SHALLOW OVENPROOF DISH, SPRINKLING EACH LAYER WITH SALT, PEPPER, NUTMEG AND GARLIC.
- MIX CREAM AND MILK TOGETHER AND POUR OVER POTATOES.
- SPRINKLE WITH CHEESE
- COVER WITH FOIL AND COOK FOR 30 MINUTES.
- REMOVE FOIL AND COOK FOR FURTHER 15 MINUTES UNIL POTATOES ARE TENDER AND CHEESE TOPPING HAS BROWNED.
- GRUYERE CHEESE IS THE BEST KIND FOR THIS DISH AS IT MELTS EASILY, BUT IF YOU PREFER YOU CAN USE ORDINARY CHEDDAR
