How to make it

  • PREHEAT OVEN
  • COOK POTATOES IN BOILING WATER WITH SALT FOR 5 MINUTES, THEN DRAIN WELL.
  • ARRANGE POTATOES IN LAYERS IN A GREASED SHALLOW OVENPROOF DISH, SPRINKLING EACH LAYER WITH SALT, PEPPER, NUTMEG AND GARLIC.
  • MIX CREAM AND MILK TOGETHER AND POUR OVER POTATOES.
  • SPRINKLE WITH CHEESE
  • COVER WITH FOIL AND COOK FOR 30 MINUTES.
  • REMOVE FOIL AND COOK FOR FURTHER 15 MINUTES UNIL POTATOES ARE TENDER AND CHEESE TOPPING HAS BROWNED.
  • GRUYERE CHEESE IS THE BEST KIND FOR THIS DISH AS IT MELTS EASILY, BUT IF YOU PREFER YOU CAN USE ORDINARY CHEDDAR
