Ingredients

4 medium potatoes, peeled, sliced

1 large turnip ,peeled, sliced

1 medium onion, peeled, sliced

milk, enough to cover potatoes, turnip

butter, for top

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat oven on 350F.

Place potatoes, onion and turnip slices into a greased baking dish, making alternate layers of potatoes and tunip, with an occasional slice of onion.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Fill the baking dish with milk until the veggies are nearly covered.

Place a large lump of butter on top.

Bake for 45 minutes.

I think you might be making a mistake in TELLING your family that there's a turnip in this dish! If my family only KNEW the yummy stuff that I "sneak" into our food! This looks earthy and wonderful, thanks for sharing!
