Ingredients
  • 1 quart of sumac berries
  • 1 gallon water
  • maple syrup or honey (to taste, optional)

Directions
  1. Bring water to a boil
  2. Place sumac in a large teapot or non-metal container
  3. Pour boiling water over the sumac
  4. Steep for 20minutes - 2 hours
  5. Strain through cheesecloth or a coffee filter
  6. Enjoy over ice

I've tasted sumac and it is pretty sour. I'm amazed that you can drink this unsweetened! Interesting way to enjoy the fruit. I will have to try this. Thanks for the tip :)

I never new Sumac berries are available in India


Over here Poison Sumac grows in bushes, and will make some people {like me} break out in a rash like poison Ivy. I never heard of staghorn sumac. I guess its common in missouri. Sounds like a good drink, but I would be too nervous to try. Have A Great Day!
