Ingredients

How to make it

  • Pop the nuts, garlic, ginger and tumeric into a blender and process to a smooth paste, using a little water.
  • Combine everything in a pot and just cover the chicken with water. Bring to the boil then lower heat, cover pot and simmer for 1 hour. Turn down heat to minimum and keep soup hot.
  • Remove chicken from stock and cool till comfortable enough to handle.
  • Tear off meat from chicken in long strips and put into individual soup bowls. Add garnishes of your choice then top up with hot stock. Enjoy!

    Yes, jakartaboy, you're absolutely right but I wouldn't dare call my extremely lazy version Soto Ayam lest I insult any Indonesians in the house LOL You clearly know your Indonesian grub - I'm impressed!

    I couldn't agree more jett. If you think normal chicken soup is good for colds and your soul lol you oughta try this one! Jewish Penicillin eh? Trust me, if you haven't tried this, you haven't seen nothing yet ;)
