- 2 cups cooked white rice shopping list
- 2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni is good) shopping list
- 1/2 cup cooked brown lentils shopping list
- 1/2 small white onion, sliced into thin strips and fried to a crisp OR shopping list
- Durkee's French fried onions shopping list
- For hot sauce: shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups water shopping list
- 4 Tbsp tomato puree shopping list
- 1Tbsp olive oil shopping list
- 1 tsp (or more, depending upon your heat tolerance) hot chili powder shopping list
How to make it
- Cook the rice, pasta and lentils in separate pans, cover and keep warm
- For the sauce:
- Mix all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat until simmering. Sauce should be fairly runny
- To serve:
- In 4 shallow bowls layer in equal quantities -
- pasta
- rice
- Sprinkle the top with some lentils
- Top with some fried onions
- Serve the hot sauce on the side in a bowl and spoon on as you eat
- Use a big spoon to eat with!
