Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons cake flour

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat; stir until butter browns lightly, about 2 or 3 minutes; remove from heat.
  3. Immediately stir in brown sugar and flour.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon water; mix to make firm, crumbly dough
  5. Scrape dough into 1 8 inch round cake pan; pat dough into a solid even layer over bottom of pan.
  6. With a fork score lines in top of dough dividing into 12 wedges.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
  8. Cool pan on wire rack 15 minutes then unfold; let cool completely.
  9. Cut into wedges along perforated lines.
