How to make it

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 f.
  • Place dates in a pot with sugar, orange juice and water over medium heat
  • Cook and mash with a fork or potato masher until you get a paste
  • Add vanilla and set aside to cool
  • Mix all of the dry ingredients together and add butter or margarine
  • With your hand combine everything until you get a crumbly mixture
  • Split mixture in half and place in a 9x9 inch greased pan
  • Press down slightly to create a crust
  • Carefully place the date paste on top of the crust
  • Loosely place the rest of the "crumbs" on top of the date paste but DO NOT press down on it to create a crust
  • Place in the oven for 20 mins
  • Let it cool before cutting
  • Enjoy!
