Ingredients
  • leftover ham
  • pickle relish
  • mayo

Directions
  1. Cut all fat from ham, put chunks into food processor. Process until the meat is finely ground, but NOT a paste.
  2. Mix in pickle relish to taste and mayo until the mixture comes together nicely.
  3. Serve on white bread or crackers, yinz.

I'm not from Philly (from southern MN), but I grew up on this stuff - piled high on what we called a "softie" (fluffy, small, soft white buns about 1/2 the size of a hamburger bun)...hot summer day, a cold ham salad sandwich with a glass of mom's homemade lemonade, consumed under the tree in the backyard to cool off - FANTASTIC! Thanks for the memory!!


I also grew up on this stuff and I still like it!


Yeppers! Ham salad was a staple at my house up in Ohio as a kid. Nowadays with the crazy prices, ham is a treat! Since no one wants to waste a smidgen of it, here ya go! Thanks, great post.
