Southern Whiskey And Pecan Cake

- 6 eggs, separated shopping list
- 1 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups butter shopping list
- 1 cup light brown sugar shopping list
- 1 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 2 pounds pecans shopping list
- 1 pound light raisins, soaked to plump up shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg shopping list
- 1 cup bourbon whiskey shopping list
How to make it
- Line three loaf pans with aluminum foil.
- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
- Beat egg whites until they stand in soft peaks.
- Then beat in sugar.
- Without washing the beater, beat yolks until thick.
- Cream butter; beat in gradually the brown and white sugars.
- Add egg yolks and beat well.
- Mix flour, pecans and raisins that have been soaked in boiling water and a splash of Whiskey then drained ;)
- Sift together flour, baking powder and nutmeg.
- Add to the butter mixture.
- Add whiskey.
- Stir in the floured nuts and raisins.
- Fold in the egg whites.
- Fill pans and bake for about 2 hours.
